This book is to analyse the reasons for Turkish migration to Europe, especially to the GFR, and Turkish migrants role in the development of German immigration policy, as well as their effects on both the GFR and Turkey. The subject has been evaluated by looking at the Turkish historical and political developments and the importance of migrants to the GFR and Turkey. The continuities and changes in Turkeys process of integration and adaptation into the Western world are examined. Turkish urbanisation and democratisation processes have changed the thinking, mental outlook, levels of skill, education and consciousness of Europe. Germans repeatedly altered their immigration policies not because of the needs of migrants, but almost solely in response to the GFRs own changing economic and other requirements. Turkish minority have affected the relations between Turkey and the GFR in many respects. The undeniable significant positive contributions of the Turks to the development of the German economy and its conversion into a multi-cultural society are accomplished facts which cannot easily be reversed and whose socio-political implications need to be more fully understood.

Erdemir graduated from Selçuk University in 1990 then worked as German translator and history teacher. He works at Celâl Bayar University, Turkey. He completed two masters theses, and a PhD in International Relations in the University of Wales in 2003. He studies on IR, political history, SWAC, migration and Jews; wrote 6 books and many articles.
