This study assesses the impact of earth tremors on groundwater quality in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. Twenty groundwater samples were collected from Mpape, Maitama, Gwarinpa, Jahi, and Wuse using sterilized 1.5-litre containers and analyzed with seismographs and a Varian AA240 Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. Heavy metal concentrations of Pb, Cd, Hg, Cr, and As exceeded WHO permissible limits, while physicochemical parameters remained within acceptable standards. Bacteriological analysis showed total coliform and Salmonella-Shigella counts above WHO limits, indicating potential health risks. The findings highlight the influence of seismic activity on groundwater contamination and support the need for mitigation strategies to protect groundwater resources in the FCT.
