The word Trinity is never used in Scripture to refer to God, but the term Godhead is used to express the fact that there are three Persons yet one God. Though we may not fully understand it, we accept it by faith because the Bible teaches it (Acts 17:29; Colossians 2:9; Daniel 9:25). We should never fall into the trap of thinking there are three Gods. There is one God (Ephesians 4:6), and that one God consists of three Persons, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each of them, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, is called God. Each of them is said to be eternal. Attributes of deity are attributed to all of them. The evidence is great to prove the existence, power, and wisdom of God. The testimony in behalf of Christ as God's Son, is sound and solid as revealed in the gospels. The Holy Spirit is said to be another of the same kind (John 14:16). He is a person just like God and Christ. Those who reject the existence of God have not carefully and honestly examined all the evidence available to them in God's two books: nature and Scripture. A study of the Godhead is one of the most mind stretching subjects possible. God is so great, powerful, and wonderful that we can never learn everything, for "his ways are] past finding out " (Romans 11:33). Obviously, this small volume does not begin to exhaust the subject. We have tried to deal with some basic matters regarding the Godhead, with the hope that the reader will have a deeper faith, and that this will stimulate in them a deeper study. It is our prayer that God will be honored and praised.
