Study of tropical Mesoscale Convective Systems (MCSs) is important for improving the understanding of the Earth Atmosphere-Hydrosphere systems and large scale climatic variability. The main objectives of the present study are (i). To study the bulk and intensity properties of MCSs with respect to atmospheric energetic over the tropics. (ii). To develop a region specifics algorithm to estimate the intensity of MCSs with the help of atmospheric energetic parameters and (iii). To develop a region specific rain retrieval algorithm for exclusive MCSs with the help of satellite onboard passive microwave sensors. Present study is carried out with the help of satellite onboard passive and active microwave sensors of Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) and NCEP/NCAR reanalyzed data set.
