This is an abstract allegory that is closely tied to the Book of Revelation, and how it corresponds to the world of today. One doesn't have to be particularly religious to appreciate these verses, but you must be on the good side in the ongoing battle of good versus evil. Otherwise, you probably won't understand this book. We live in a dog eat dog world, and many people resort to unethical measures to make their living. Some people even enjoy betraying others, and ripping them off. These people have wandered far from the divine path. This is happening right now the world over, and those who resist committing evil deeds and remain pure in heart, shall live to see the glory of the next dimension. Those that do not will undoubtedly get torn up by the beast and have their souls extinguished. ( Although there is no substantial evidence of these things, it is healthy to believe in something.) The objective of this poem is to encourage the good people to endure, and remain righteous in their deeds. It is not about hating the wicked, but about biding time while the malefactors burn themselves out.
