Nurses act as catalyst for any change in the community. They play an important role in educating and preparing the community specially the mothers to care for a newborn. Newborn care programmes can be organized in all departments covering health workers, families and significant others. Nurses in the obstetrical inpatient and outpatient departments should ensure that all antenatal mothers are educated on newborn care. Nurses in the community can utilize the educational module to teach the field workers on newborn care.
