Chess Manual is a book intended primarily for young chess players who are already familiar with the chess basics. It has been divided into three basic parts - middlegame, endgame and opening. In the chapter on middlegame it's easy to see Anto's love for combinational playing style, the author is obviously endlessly enjoying while showing us a myriad of examples of beautiful sacrifices, tactical blows and mating attacks, but due attention was given to strategic motifs as well. Endgames were covered from simpler to the more complex ones, and special attention was given to pawn endings. In the part on the initial phase of the game the author made an effort to avoid giving dry variations only, but instead tried to present the reader with basic ideas of particular openings through a string of illustrative examples from practice. The book was written in a light tone and Anto's sense of humour floats through the pages, so I'm quite certain that all chess lovers will enjoy it. Nikola Djukic, Grandmaster

Anto Rmus (1977-2008), International Master, was one of the greatest talents of Montenegrin chess. He was the winner of various tournaments in Serbia and Montenegro. In 2004, Anto received the FIDE certificate for the Grandmaster title. The Chess Manual was posthumously published as a student's book by the Montenegro Chess Federation in 2008.
