Flap surgery is procedure where some measure of tissue is eliminated from the contributor site and moved to the recipient site with an intact blood vessel in the reconstructive surgery. This is similar to but different from a graft that does not have an intact blood stream and instead depends on the development of blood vessels. This is achieved because the remaining tissue does not accommodate a graft or reconstruct more complicated anatomical structures. In this book we have summarized briefly on various types, techniques, areas which are suitable for grafting. We have also dealt with advantages and disadvantages of different types of flaps according to the method of harvesting and also with esthetic concern.
