This study grew out of a personal desire to produce a work that studied the life satisfaction of stay-at-home mothers. This research project is a qualitative study of the experience of being a stay-at-home mother. The purpose of this study is to provide a narrative view of at-home mothering based on the variables of identity, isolation, social support, well-being and life satisfaction, in addition to parenting at least one "pre"-school child. The perceived status of mothers and the value of their work are some of the factors included in this study as a historical foundation of the experience of motherhood. This study found a connection between a strong and varied social support system, which appeared to lower isolation, and increase the well-being and life satisfaction of the mothers in this study. The data indicated that overall these mothers were satisfied with their decision and experienced the role positively.
