E-learning objects as complimentary tool for teaching : The use of e-learning objects to teach Mathematics

This research was to explore how to use learningobjects to teach the topic of decimals to a group often-year old students.There were 2 groups of 59 students. One group wasthe control where they were taught using thetraditional method of whiteboard while the othergroup used the learning objects to help them in theirconcept building.There was a pre and post test to find out how muchthey have learnt using both methods.The results shows that the use of learning objectswas a good teaching tool to be complemented withtraditional teaching and learning methods. For bothclasses, there was an improvement in score from thepre-test that was carried out. When the results werecompared, it was found that the group who used thelearning objects scored comparably well with theother group who used the traditional method oflearning. Both the classes did not do significantlybetter than each other.
