Both "Never Poor" and "Beatrice" share a theme of people praying, and that was the author's intent. Overhearing a conversation at a coffee shop where others were discussing they had no idea how to go about praying brought about this series. San Dee Wright Crabtree wanted to show those who may not have a church background or a Christian family what it is like to pray and have a relationship with Christ. The author also has a love of history and each book has a great deal of real historical moments and interesting facts. As the title indicates, picking one's friends carefully is significant in the story of Beatrice.
