The idea for the Shirley Link middle grade mystery series (for kids 9-12) came about suddenly. As I spoke with my pre-teen niece about life, the universe and Dr. Who I realized something: Sherlock Holmes' incredible wit and powers of observation could probably only be matched by a smart teenage girl.
