Mike Yost was honorably discharged from the US Air Force in February 2001, after serving in Operation Southern Watch in Kuwait. He left the Christian church during his military service and came out as a gay man in 2003. He is currently the spokesperson for OUT Armed Forces, a nonprofit asking LGBT active-duty and veterans to come out to help military personnel successfully and safely serve openly in the US Armed Forces.
