Sue Shafer (author) is an award winning scholarly writer. She was inspired to create Fantastical Fred because the original Frederic Artemis Dylan was her nephew. Fred was smart, a diva, a clown, and yes a little sneaky. Fantastical Fred was born out of true life stories, some of which still make Sue and her sister Rae laugh till they cry.
