Sarah Kate Istra Winter has been a writer and artist for as long as she can remember. She holds a degree in comparative mythology and ritual, and still spends many hours in the stacks of her local university library, happily researching her latest obsessions. Originally from New England, she now lives in Eugene, Oregon, a city of lush vegetation, eccentric inhabitants, and lots and lots of rain. If she could be transported 75 years in the past, she would join the carnival in a second, probably as a fortune-teller.
