Steve Cameron grew up in a small town in central Michigan. He transferred high schools between his sophomore and junior years, and moved to Minnesota. After attending college in Minneapolis, putting down the snow shovel, he moved west to California. An accomplished musician at age fifteen, Steve played professionally in a big band orchestra, and won several state music titles. While in college, he traveled on a one month tour of Europe, representing the United States in a concert band and jazz group.
