W. D. Wetherellis the author of three earlier collections of short fiction, five novels, four essay collections, and many other works of nonfiction. He s written essays and travel pieces for the "New York Times", the "Boston Review", and other periodicals. He is the recipient of two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, three O. Henry Awards, the Drue Heinz Literature Prize, a Rockefeller Foundation grant, the National Magazine Award, and the Strauss Living Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He lives in Lyme, New Hampshire, with his family.
