Mies Westerveld is Associate Professor of Labour Law at the Hugo Sinzheimer Institute of the University of Amsterdam. She wrote a PhD on the evolution of old-age and death pension schemes in social security. Her publications cover many aspects of social security legislation, such as sickness and disability schemes, and the place of care within a system of social insurance.
