Professor Mike Weed is Professor of Sport in Society, Director of the Centre for Sport, Physical Education and Activity Research (SPEAR), and Director of Research for the Faculty of Social and Applied Sciences at Canterbury Christ Church University in the UK. He is interested in sport and physical activity consumption, the processes by which people engage with sport and health messages, and strategies for encouraging behaviour change, and his work in this area has been funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, the UK Department of Health, UK Sport, Sport England, and the Youth Sport
