From the age of seventeen he worked on bombers, serving four years in the US Air Force. Upon discharge Staff Sergeant Walmsley, with a desire for more challenges became a police officer in New Jersey. The next quarter of a century he experienced many things while moving through his career, finally retiring as deputy chief of police, a rank he held for several years until retirement.
