Native of Memphis, Tennessee, Laura Vookles (LV) writes memoir - poetry and prose - about her Southern roots, motherhood, a husband's death, and middle-aged romance. She has featured at venues from New York to Boston and south to Hernando, Mississippi. In 2007 LV was on the first White Plains Library Slam team, published her debut collection, "John on the Chrysler: Poems of Love and Grief", and was twice nominated for the 2008 Pushcart Prize. Since then, she has authored her second chapbook, "Love Letters to My Mostly Ordinary Life", competed nationally in two Women of the World Poetry Slams,
