Ruhama Veltfort was raised in Palo Alto, California. She graduated from Barnard College in new York City with a bachelor's degree in anthropology and oriental studies, and returned to California in 1967. She has lived in San Francisco ever since. She has been a student of Sufism and mediation for over thirty years. Her poems and stories have appeared in Whispering Campaign, The Antrim Review, The Noe Valley Voice and Sound Journal.
