Matt Vandegriff was born in Ada, Oklahoma in the heart of the Chickasaw nation. In 2012 he graduated from Stony Brook University with a Ph. D. in Composition and has worked many years as a professor of Music Theory and Composition at Long Island University before devoting himself solely to writing.
