Writer, linguist, historian, scholar, radio commentator, and rabbi, Henry Ucko (1910-1995) was a true Renaissance Man. A naturally gifted storyteller, he wrote and published in three languages - German, Spanish, and English. He managed to survive Nazi persecution, a shipwreck in the English Channel, an earthquake in the Dominican Republic, a bout with cancer, the vicissitudes of rabbinical positions, and the obstacles to the publication of short stories. In 1986, he moved with his wife, Lenora, to Durham, North Carolina, where he continued to write to the end of his life.
