Tschinkel, John

John Tschinkel is an American immigrant of mixed parentage, with an ethnic German father and a Slovene mother. Brought up to be both bi-lingual and bi-cultural he is able to draw on many sources to buttress and lend substance to the historical framework and scope of his chronicle.

Tschinkel was born 1931 in Slovenia, then part of the former Yugoslavia. He left for Austria in 1945 and emigrated to US in 1950. Served in USAF during Korean War. Became US citizen in 1953.
