Yuma Totani is Associate Professor of History at the University of Hawaii. She is a recipient of the Postdoctoral Fellowship in Japanese Studies granted by the Edwin O. Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies, Harvard University, in 2005 6; the Abe Fellowship granted by the Social Science Research Council in 2010 11; and the Frederick Burkhardt Residential Fellowship for Recently Tenured Scholars in 2012 13, during which time she took up residence at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University.
