Before becoming a mother and a writer, Amy Tiemann was a neuroscientist who combined her love of science and her love of education into a rewarding career as a high school teacher. She took time off from this profession in 1999 to stay home with her first child. These years at home allowed her to explore a new creative path as a writer.
