Erica Thompson was born in Sierra Leone, West Africa. She emigrated to the United Kingdom back in 1990. Thompson holds an MA degree in sociology, a post graduate certificate for further and higher education, a BA (Honors) degree in social science, and an initial certificate in teaching basic skills.
