Carol Lynn Thomas is a retired middle school teacher who was inspired to write the book after watching an HBO documentary called Nine Innings From Ground Zero, which showed how baseball played a significant role in helping New Yorkers heal after 9/11. Aiding in her writing process was her husband Ben and his vast collection of baseball memorabilia, which allowed her own type of time travel back to the seventh game of the 1960 World Series. Thomas currently lives in Wilmington, Delaware.
