Michael A. Thalbourne is an Australian psychologist who has spent his career researching the psychological correlates of so-called psychic experiences. He proposed the theory of psychopraxia to explain the relationship of extrasensory perception to psychokinesis, and the theory of transliminality to describe the propensity of certain individuals to experience a wide variety of experiences from the spiritual to the dissociative. Classically trained in Greek and Latin, he has long been interested in the origins of words and how they are used, especially in psychical research and parapsychology.
