Judith M. Taylor is a retired British neurologist who now resides in San Francisco. She is the author of "The Olive in California: History of an Immigrant Tree;" "Tangible Memories: Californians and Their Gardens, 1800 to 1950;" and "The Global Migrations of Ornamental Plants: How the World Got into Your Garden." Based on Taylor's work, Senator Mark Kirk of Illinois is submitting a bill to Congress naming the marigold as the flower of the House and Senate.
