Summitt, Dan

Summitt attended Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech each for a year. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1947, served a year aboard a destroyer, and then entered Submarine School. He rose to the position of deputy chief of staff for the commander of the Submarine Force Atlantic Fleet and served as chief of staff for the Submarine Flotilla 8 in the Mediterranean. He retired in 1974.
