WALTER SULLIVAN, a writer of the loosely termed "Nashville school", lives in Tennessee's capital city, where he was born. His other works include two novels, Sojourn of a Stranger and A Time to Dance; many published short stories; three books of criticism; and a memoir, Allen Tate: A Recollection. He is a founding member of the Fellowship of Southern Writers and has taught English at Vanderbilt University since 1949.
