Ben Stoltzfus is a novelist, translator, literary critic, and retired professor of comparative literature, French, and creative writing at the University of California, Riverside. He is the recipient of Fulbright, Camargo, Humanities, and Creative Arts grants, a Gradiva award from NAAP for Lacan and Literature: Purloined Pretexts (State University of New York Press, 1996), and a Scholar's Library award from MLA for Gide's Eagles (Southern Illinois University Press, 1969).
