David Stansfield is an Arabic scholar, who has lived in many parts of the Middle East with different Arab families. He graduated from Durham University with First Class Honors (summa cum laude) in Arabic Studies, and continued studying the language and the culture at the universities of Cambridge, Paris and Toronto, whereupon he was recruited by MI6, the British equivalent of the CIA.
