Stanley, Dave

Ask about fly fishing in Nevada and the name Dave Stanley comes up. Dave's father taught him to cast a fly at age six. Summer jobs were with the Virginia Department of Fish & Game doing fish and biology studies. After graduating from the University of Richmond Dave headed west. His fly tying and guiding led to the 1983 purchase of the Reno Fly Shop that served the Eastern Sierra and Northern Nevada for more than 30 years. Unfortunately in December of 2010 the doors of this famous retail operation shut down due to the downturn in the economy coupled with new local big box stores. Reno Fly Shop
