Carl P. E. Springer is professor of English at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. After earning his PhD in classics from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1984, Springer taught at Illinois State University before joining the faculty at Southern Illinois University- Edwardsville where he served as associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences from 2000 to 2010.
