Dan Hintz served in law enforcement from December 1967 to January 1987 as a deputy, chief of police, and sheriff of Portage County, Wisconsin. He was president of the Badger State Sheriffs' Association and the Wisconsin Sheriffs' and Deputy Sheriff's Association, and was also elected northeast area director of mutual aid by the sheriffs and chiefs of police of the state of Wisconsin.
