Spergel, Irving A.

Spergel is the George Herbert Jones Professor at the School of Social Service Administration, University of Chicago. He was a street gang worker, supervisor, administrator and court worker in the 1950s in New York City, and since then has been active in research, teaching, and demonstration dealing with the youth gang problem. He is presently involved in evaluating gang reduction and intervention programs in Chicago and nationally.
