Smith, M. E. B.

I am a product of the south. I grew up barefoot in the summer, chasing pigs and helping to care for my siblings. My childhood was also spent reading fables, myths and philosophies. I came to recognize one informs the other. There is philosophy in all mythologies and a little mythology in philosophy. I look back on my childhood with fondness through my novels; they speak to my history and my beliefs. They honor the people who inspired my existence.
