Born in the Republic of Georgia, Shorena Kurashvili Anzhilov was seventeen years old when the thirteen-month-long Georgian-Abkhaz Conflict began. She moved to the United States in 1999 and used her experiences as an immigrant as inspiration for Three Novels, which she also dedicates to her brother-in-law who was murdered in the war at nineteen years old.
