R. A. SMATHERS has been passionately interested in history, especially American history, since a very young age. Thankfully the Brea library was easily accessible, well stocked with quality books and had Mrs. Langmore, a very helpful children's librarian. With the start of her teaching career, she began both a Writing Project Fellowship and the opening words of her first novel. She lives with her family and four dogs in Mission Viejo, California.
