Perrine Slim, Apopka nurtured, attended his first eight years of formal education at the Clarcona Colored School. He then attended Hungerford High School, a private school for people of color, in completion of his twelve years of education. Slim is a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Navy on the USS General Mann TAP112. He proudly served from 1951-1954 above the 38th Parallel. Work took Perrine Slim from Apopka, to New York, to Miami.
