Gloria Slater grew up near Syracuse, NY listening to the fantastic stories her mother told about life in Berlin, Germany during WWII. Bombs falling all around them, fires burning across the street, people mysteriously disappearing, Russian soldiers on rampages of rape and destruction and her mother, Heddy, praying them through it all.
