Ema Skooh was born in Alabama and raised on a farm with a busy creek coupling through the back yard with rapidly flowing water rolling between two deep banks. The front yard kissed the railroad tracks with passenger and freight trains rumbling past 24 hours per day. The house she grew up in was situated in the middle of corn fields, cotton fields, a sugarcane field, watermelon and peanut patches.
