Myra Sherman's short story collection, Jailed, was published by Desperanto Press in 2011. She was a finalist in Glimmer Train's Best Start 50 contest, the SLS fiction prize, and the Moment-Karma short story award. She received a Masters in Social Welfare from The University of California, Berkeley and is a licensed clinical social worker in California. She has worked as the Director of Mental Health in a San Francisco Bay area county jail, and as a therapist specializing in patients at risk for suicide, homeless substance abusers and mentally disordered sex offenders.
