Constance Shehan is the Editor of the "Journal of Family Issues" and Director of the University of Florida's Center for Excellence in Teaching. She has served on the Board of Directors of the National Council on Family Relations, been certified by the council as a Family Life Educator, and has received court-certified training to be a family mediator and a child advocate. At the University of Florida, she has served as President pro tempore of the Liberal Arts and Sciences Faculty, president of the Association for Women Faculty, and as director of the Center for Women's Studies.
