Judy Serventi was born in a cotton mill town in the North of England called Farnworth. She was the middle child of Edward, a fireman and Edith, a cotton weaver. She grew up in the war years when milk and eggs were the powdered kind but her extended family life was rich with fun and laughter. In 1960 she married Bruno, the son of an Italian immigrant whose family had an ice cream company.
