Schmidt earned her undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio and received her master's degree in Counseling from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX. She taught elementary school for four years and has been an elementary school counselor for 11 years. She is a counselor in the Mayfield City School District in Ohio.
