Elizabeth Scannell-Desch, PhD, RN, is Professor and former Chairperson, Division of Nursing, Mount Saint Mary College, NY. From 1972-1997, she was an Air Force nurse, rising from the rank of Lieutenant, clinical nurse to Colonel, command nurse executive at USAF Headquarters in the Pentagon. There, she directed nursing policy/practice for the entire Air Force Reserve and served as the senior nursing advisor to the Air Force Reserve Commanding General.
